As a small bank serving small rural communities located in Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana, the Bank had limited experience and resources to manage the liquidation of manufacturing equipment.
Asset Sales, Inc. (ASI) was recommended by a local business owner who had dealt with the ASI in the past.

The Banks experience with AS! was very positive. ASl's President took the time to fly to Ohio/Indiana from North Carolina to assess the manufacturing equipment. I wanted to drop a quick note to tell you how impressed I was with the West Coast Saws Auction. I have been to approximately a dozen auctions in the past couple of years and have never been treated better by the staff. The typical auctioneer is rude, overbearing and bitter. Your auctioneer was pleasant the entire day and when things got a little difficult or confusing for him, he apologized and quickly got things back on tract, very nice to see. On the negative side, I drove 20 hours each way only to get beat out on many auction items. The auctioneer was so skilled that he drove the prices through the roof. Not exactly the type of auction a buyer likes to go to, but certainly the seller should be very happy. That is not meant to be a negative, simply a compliment to his skills. I was also impressed with the office ladies. They were very pleasant throughout the day, even at check out when things get nightmarish. They handled the rush with grace and should be applauded. All in all it was not a great auction for me, but I will be sure to watch your auctions and attend as soon as I can.

Please accept this letter as our recommendation for your firm, based upon the results obtained for Wysong & Miles Company (the “Debtor”) in its Chapter 11 proceeding in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. As counsel for the Debtor, we had the opportunity to receive and evaluate a number of proposals for the liquidation of substantially all the equipment used in the Debtor’s manufacturing process. Asset Sales provided the most attractive offer, both in terms of flexibility in deciding whether to go with a period of marketing for private sales, a bulk sale, an auction, an auction with a guaranteed minimum and participation in excess sales proceeds, and the pricing and terms offered for each of the alternative approaches.

These results greatly facilitated the payment of secured creditors and the consummation of a plan built around this partial liquidation and the preservation of the reorganized company as a parts and service business.

The tough economy starting in the Spring of 2000 unfortunately was more than my company could withstand. My second lender foreclosed and I was left with nothing to show for several years of hard work and thousands of dollars invested.

Fortunately, the lender and I were able to work out an arrangement where I was incentivized to help them maximize the dollars they could realize from the sale of my company's assets. As part of the deal, I would be able to use my earnings from the incentive to "buy back" a sound portion of my former company. To be successful I needed to maximize their return.
